Chief Secretary takes stock of Independence Day preparations | KNO

Urges Security Agencies to ensure minimum inconvenience to people

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 11 (KNO) : Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam reviewed the preparations for Independence Day functions at a high-level meeting convened at Civil Secretariat here this afternoon. Principal Secretary, Home R K Goyal, ADGP Law & Order, Muneer Ahmad Khan, Principal Secretary Planning, Development & Monitoring, Rohit Kansal, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Commissioner Secretary General Administration Department, Hilal Ahmad Parray, Secretary Education, Rigzian Sampheal, Secretary Information, Sarmad Hafeez, IGP Kashmir, S P Pani and other senior officers of the civil and police administration attended the meeting. Director General Police, S P Vaid, DIsGP, Deputy Commissioners of all the 22 districts and District SSPs attended the meeting through video-conferencing. The meeting was informed that the Governor N N Vohra shall preside over and take salute at the main function to be organized at SK Stadium Srinagar, while Advisor to Governor B B Vyas will take salute at the provincial level function at Parade Ground Jammu. Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh will take salute at Leh, while respective Deputy Commissioners shall take salute at all the remaining District headquarters.

ADCs, SDMs, Tehisldars and Senior-most Government functionaries will take salute at the Sub-Divisional and Tehsil level. Chief Secretary received comprehensive brief from the Divisional Commissioner, DCs and District SSsP about the logistic and other preparations put in place for the Independence Day functions in all the districts including cardinal functions at Srinagar and Jammu.

He asked the civil and police administration to prepare for the sequence of programmes scheduled for the Independence Day across all venues in the State. He said all preparations should be made to ensure graceful Independence Day functions with necessary security arrangements put in place. He instructed the police that while making security arrangements, it should be ensured there is least inconvenience to the people. “The public should be facilitated to reach the venues to participate in the celebrations,” he said.

Chief Secretary sought details of traffic management, parking facility, seating arrangement, electricity, public address systems, cleaning, drinking water, toilets, fire-fighting and medical facilities. He called for designating Nodal Officers at the provincial and district levels to coordinate with the concerned authorities the logistics and other arrangements at the venue. He also called for illumination of government buildings and other important edifices across the State. The Chief Secretary was informed that full dress rehearsal for the Independence Day is scheduled on 13 August, 2018.
